What is Social Engineering ?
Social Engineering is commonly understood to mean the art of manipulating people into performing an action or divulging confidential information. While it is similar to a confidence trick or simple fraud, the term typically applies to trickery or deception for the purpose of information gathering, fraud, or computer system access. In most cases the attacker never comes face-to-face with their victims.
Social Engineering is the most common type of fraud that is facing consumers today. Below you will find a link to a brochure explaining ways to keep your information secure.
Why does my password have to be so complex?
Community Bank CBD requires our customers to create online passwords that are at least 8 characters long that include letters, numbers, and at least one special character to safeguard your online account information from being easily guessed by potential hackers. Password guessing is when someone gains access to your username and password by simply guessing. These attacks can be performed by an attacker manually typing in the login information until the correct credentials are entered, or by using sophisticated software to “brute-force” the correct information. Brute-forcing involves sending thousands of different logins until the correct one is finally discovered.
If you do not create a complex password, people that are intent on stealing your identity have a greater chance of success. For more information on Online Banking Security Tips, click on link below.
